A U.S. launch built around real communities
WeRoad is entering the United States at a defining moment for the company. In May 2026, the group-travel company announced a $58 million Series C led by Airbnb, bringing its total funding to $100 million and supporting its first major expansion outside Europe.
The U.S. launch brings WeRoad’s group-travel itineraries and WeMeet community events to a market where young adults are actively looking for more ways to meet people offline. Swaya is partnering with WeRoad to help make that introduction through the student organizations that already create trusted, in-person community on campus.
Why student organizations are the right starting point
A student organization is not just a distribution list. It is a group of people with trusted leaders, an existing calendar, and a reason to bring members together. That makes clubs, Greek-life chapters, cultural organizations, sports teams, and campus programming groups a natural way for WeRoad to meet students through an experience rather than a generic ad.
For each organization, the work can be tailored to its audience and event format. The goal is simple: create a useful, social moment where students can discover trips, meet people they may want to travel with, and take a clear next step if the experience resonates.
What WeRoad campaigns can look like on Swaya
The partnership starts with campus activations that make the brand tangible. Swaya helps WeRoad match with relevant student organizations, set the agreed reward and requirements, coordinate the activation, and collect the proof and recap after the event.
Event sponsorships and travel activities
WeRoad can sponsor a student event or create a travel-focused activity around it: a Departure Lounge, destination vote, travel night, meet-up, pub quiz, gear giveaway, or another format that fits the community. Organizations promote the moment, host it, and give students a clear way to explore WeRoad trips.
Free-trip giveaways
A campaign can include a WeRoad trip as a student giveaway prize. The organization can build the giveaway into an event, drive participation through an agreed entry flow, and share the winner details and event recap after the activation.
Referral codes and commission
Organizations can share a personalized WeRoad code or link with their members. When a traveler makes a confirmed booking through that code, the organization earns the commission agreed in its campaign—creating a direct connection between meaningful introductions and measurable results.
Content and community proof
Student partners can capture the real-life side of the activation through agreed photos, short videos, recap links, attendance context, and student reactions. That gives WeRoad usable insight while helping each organization show what it created for its community.
How Swaya keeps the partnership practical
Each campus partnership lives in one shared workflow. WeRoad can define the audience, activity, timing, materials, rewards, referral terms, and proof it needs. Student organizations can review the opportunity, confirm the expectations, manage the agreed tasks, and submit the final recap without relying on scattered email threads or spreadsheets.
That structure matters during a launch. It gives WeRoad a repeatable way to learn which campus communities, event formats, and offers create the strongest engagement—while giving student organizations a transparent opportunity with clear value for their members.
What comes next
This is the beginning of WeRoad’s work with the Swaya network. We will share more as activations take place, including the student communities involved, the experiences they create, and what the partnership learns along the way.
The broader opportunity is to give students a new way to discover travel and meet potential travel companions, while giving student organizations real event support, memorable prizes, and a performance-based way to earn from the community they already bring together.
